Equine First Aid Training Course

We are hosting an Equine First Aid training course on Saturday February, 16 from 9am to 4pm. Equine First Aid is the first treatment available to a horse before a veterinarian can attend to the animal. This course is hands-on with horses and cover. You will learn how to prepare, how to react, and how to handle equine emergency situations while waiting for you vet to arrive.

The course covers:

  • Lacerations
  • Casting
  • How to flush foreign bodies out of eyes
  • What to do about hoof puncture wounds, thrush, scratches, abscess, white line
  • Digestive emergencies : colic, collapse, choke
  • How to take your horse’s vital signs to assist the veterinarian in response
  • How you can detect and ease pain in your horses back
  • How to weigh your horse so you don’t over/under dose him without a weight tape
  • And much more!

All attendees will receive a framed certificate of completion, first aid manual, and vital signs normal/abnormal barn card.

The cost of the course is $165. The fee includes all course materials and the certificate of completion. You can either sign up in the lounge or email our Barn manager,
